About Fern Oak Estate

Fern Oak Estate is a 15-acre fenced and gated property on a private spring-fed lake in Pomona Park, about 40 miles southwest of St. Augustine. It opened in spring 2023 and books as a wedding weekend rather than a wedding day: the standard package is 3 nights and 4 days, the couple's family and wedding party sleep on site across 4 residences, and the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, after-party and day-after brunch all happen on the grounds. Weddings run up to 110 guests, with ceremony sites on the lake lawn and in a clearing under 100-year-old oaks, and a 4,000-square-foot bar and lounge for the reception.

Their answer to what sets them apart is the format. Fern Oak books the whole property for the weekend rather than renting a space for a day, so the people you care about are already there for the rehearsal dinner, the morning of getting ready and the day-after brunch. Nobody else is on the grounds: the gate closes behind the wedding party and vendors, and the owners stay reachable by phone but out of the way. In their words: "We check you in and leave you alone until we come to check you out." They keep a vetted list of preferred partners but say couples are free to bring their own vendors, and they encourage a private tour first, where you can wander the property and picture it.

Credentials & experience

Questions couples ask

Do we have to use your vendors?

No. They keep a list of preferred partners they have vetted and like working with, but you can bring your own vendors.

Can more than 36 people sleep on site?

Yes. Tents, RVs and camper vans are welcome on the property.

How long is a wedding booking?

The wedding package is 3 nights and 4 days, and extra days can be added. Their site breaks the weekend into the rehearsal dinner, morning-of preparation, first look, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, after-party and a day-after brunch.

Where can the ceremony happen?

There are 3 ceremony locations. Their site describes the Estate Lawn, with open lake views below the main house, and a clearing in the oak forest with a wooden arbor, each seating up to 80. The courtyard behind the Estate House and the gazebos, which double as stages, are the other options.

What is included in the wedding package?

Per their site: tables and chairs for up to 80 guests, set-up and breakdown, a parking attendant, facility fees and day-of event management, plus the Sand Bar and Lounge for 3 days. The brochures and pricing guide are posted on their website.

How far is Fern Oak Estate from St. Augustine?

About 40 miles southwest, in Pomona Park. Their site puts it at roughly 70 miles from Jacksonville and 60 from Ocala.

Is the property private during our stay?

Yes. It is fully fenced and gated, so nobody other than your wedding party and vendors comes in during your stay. They check you in, stay reachable by phone, and come back to check you out.

Do we need a licensed bartender?

Their pricing guide says a Florida state licensed bartender is required on site for any event with guests who are not staying on the property.
