About COS Celebrations
COS Celebrations is a St. Augustine wedding DJ company started in 2022 by Corey Peterson, a St. Augustine native who has worked weddings here since the early 2000s, first as a saxophonist. The team is 8 DJs and musicians plus a client services coordinator, playing about 600 weddings a year in the St. Augustine area. A DJ and MC come with every booking; live saxophone over the DJ set is the signature add-on, with drums, violin, piano, guitar and brass available, and piano or violin for ceremonies and cocktail hours. Regular venues include Treasury on the Plaza, the Lightner Museum, The White Room, River House and the Fountain of Youth.
Ask what sets them apart and the answer is about who the day belongs to. Most of the team are working musicians, and they describe the job as curating the soundtrack of the couple's day from the couple's taste, not the DJ's and not the planner's. On the microphone that means no gimmicks and no count-along cheers; announcements are short and said with intention. On the dance floor it means beat-matched sets built by reading the room, and letting an anthem play through when the floor is singing it. They say they fit couples who want a night built around them, quiet or full-on party, and not a couple who wants a playlist played in order. In their words: "It's not about us; it's your event."

Questions couples ask
What is your MC style on the microphone?
Minimal and tasteful. No cheesy gimmicks, no count-along cheers, no yelling introductions. Everything said on the mic has a purpose, and the hype comes at the right moment rather than all night.
Do you mix songs together, and how do you pick what to play?
Seamless beat matching through the dance set, built by reading the room that night rather than a fixed list. The DJ watches the floor and decides when to transition, and anthems get played through - cutting a sing-along short is the quickest way to lose a room.
What happens if our DJ gets sick?
There is a whole team, and the company tries to keep a full-time DJ off and available on every wedding day as cover. In twenty-plus years the founder has never called out of a wedding.
What comes in the basic package?
Everything the day needs: microphones, speakers and sound wherever it is needed, including the ceremony and cocktail hour, a professional MC, curated playlists, and the COS planning app where the music and the timeline live. No call the week of the wedding asking you to add gear.
Why does pricing run from $1,500 to $3,000?
Event length, add-ons such as live saxophone or uplighting, and which DJ you book. The founder's own packages start higher because of demand; newer team members book at the lower end. Events within 50 miles of St. Augustine have no travel fee.
What do couples get wrong when booking a DJ?
Judging by highlight reels. Anyone can look like a rock star with editing. Talk to the DJ, make sure the vibe fits and the conversation does not feel forced, and ask about the sound system - the right speakers and subs for the room, run at a volume where the dance floor is loud and the back tables can still talk.
